Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy ("Policy") describes how Steeltype LLC ("Company") handles information from https://pigeonprobe.com and the PigeonProbe application at https://app.pigeonprobe.com. For the purposes of this Policy, unless otherwise noted, all references to the Company include https://pigeonprobe.com. The Company website is a software as a service site. By using the Company website, you consent to the data practices described in this statement.

I. Collection of Your Personal Information

In order to better provide you with products and services offered, the Company may collect personally identifiable information, such as your:

  • First and last name
  • Email address

An account is identified by an email address. You may sign in with a password, a passkey, or a Google or Microsoft account you already have; when you use one of those providers, the Company stores the identifier that provider returns rather than a password. An account belongs to one or more organizations, and the organization's membership and permissions decide which mailboxes a person, or software they have authorized, is allowed to read.

Google and Microsoft sign-in. If you choose either provider, PigeonProbe requests basic identity permissions (openid, email, and profile). The provider supplies an account identifier and may supply your name, email address, and claims about the issuing organization and email verification. We use this information to verify your sign-in, create your account when you register, or connect a provider to an existing account when you explicitly request it. We store your account name and email address and the provider identifier and account link so that later sign-ins reach the same PigeonProbe account. We may separately verify your email address. PigeonProbe does not receive your Google or Microsoft password.

These sign-in permissions do not give PigeonProbe access to your Gmail or Outlook messages, contacts, calendars, or files. Test mail stored in PigeonProbe arrives separately at your PigeonProbe test addresses. Provider tokens are processed to validate the sign-in; we do not retain provider access or refresh tokens for ongoing access to your Google or Microsoft account.

We use Google and Microsoft sign-in data only to provide and secure your PigeonProbe account, manage access, provide account support and notices, and meet legal obligations. Account names and email addresses may be visible to authorized members and administrators of organizations you join. Our hosting and account-email service providers process the information needed for their services, as described in Section III. We do not sell this provider data, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models. Choosing provider sign-in sends authentication requests to Google or Microsoft; their handling of those requests is governed by their own privacy policies. We do not send your received test mail to them as part of sign-in.

You can disconnect a linked provider in Account security after ensuring you have another way to sign in, and you can revoke PigeonProbe access in your Google or Microsoft account settings. Disconnecting or revoking a provider does not itself delete your PigeonProbe account or its existing records. We retain account information and provider links as needed to operate your account; you can request deletion at support@steeltype.io, subject to the exceptions in Section VIII. Limited security and legal records may remain where necessary for those purposes.

PigeonProbe exists to receive test email, so the Company also stores the messages sent to a customer's disposable test addresses: the message content, its attachments, and the delivery record, which includes the sending and receiving addresses, the time of receipt, the size, whether the connection was encrypted, and the sender-authentication results. That mail is retained only for the period shown in the application for that customer's plan and is then deleted. PigeonProbe is for synthetic test mail: customers are told not to send production credentials, personal communications, or regulated records to it, and the service cannot send, reply to, forward, or relay mail.

Purchases are processed by Stripe, Inc. Stripe collects your payment card details directly, under its own privacy policy; the Company receives your name, email address, the amount paid, and the last four digits of the card, and never sees the full card number.

You provide personal information when you create an account, when you subscribe and Stripe passes us your name, email address, the amount paid, and the last four digits of your card, and when you send us an email. Test mail reaches the Company because you or your own systems send it to your own disposable addresses. We use that information to operate the service you signed up for, to bill it, and to answer you. Automatically processed request information and limited marketing website measurements are described in Section V.

II. Use of your Personal Information

The Company collects and uses your personal information in the following ways:

  • to operate and deliver the services you have requested.
  • to provide you with information, products, or services that you request from us.
  • to provide you with notices about your account.
  • to carry out the Company's obligations and enforce our rights arising from any contracts entered into between you and us, including for billing and collection.
  • to notify you about changes to our https://pigeonprobe.com or any products or services we offer or provide through it.
  • to maintain the security of the Company's services and prevent fraud or misuse.
  • to comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, or governmental requests.
  • to receive and store the test mail sent to a customer's disposable addresses, to make it available to the people and software that customer permits, and to apply the limits of their plan.
  • in any other way we may describe when you provide the information.
  • for any other purpose with your consent

The Company does not send marketing email. It emails you about your account, such as to verify an address, help you recover access, or give a notice required by law or by this Policy.

III. Sharing Information with Third Parties

The Company does not sell, rent, or lease its customer lists to third parties.

The Company does not sell biometric data to third parties.

The Company may share data with trusted partners to help perform statistical analysis, send you email or postal mail, provide customer support, or arrange for deliveries. All such third parties are prohibited from using your personal information except to provide these services to the Company, and they are required to maintain the confidentiality of your information.

The Company uses four service providers to run PigeonProbe. Amazon Web Services, Inc. hosts the application, its database, and the stored mail, in the United States. Cloudflare, Inc. provides DNS for the domain, serves the marketing website and processes its limited analytics described in Section V; application traffic goes directly to Amazon Web Services and does not pass through Cloudflare. Stripe, Inc. processes subscription payments. Twilio Inc., through SendGrid, delivers account email such as verification and recovery codes; it never handles received test mail. Each acts on the Company's instructions for those purposes and for no other.

The Company may disclose your personal information, without notice, if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to the edicts of the law or comply with legal process served on the Company or the site; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of the Company; and/or (c) act under exigent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of the Company, or the public.

IV. Sale or Sharing of Personal Information

The Company does not sell your personal information and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Because no sale or sharing occurs, there is nothing to opt out of; if that ever changes, this Policy will be updated first and an opt-out method will be provided here. Residents of California and of other states with consumer privacy laws may exercise their rights, including the rights to know, to correct, and to delete, by emailing support@steeltype.io.

V. Automatically Collected Information

The application uses strictly necessary session cookies to keep signed-in users signed in. The marketing website at https://pigeonprobe.com sets no cookies. We use limited, first-party analytics to count public page views, trial-button clicks, example downloads and demo plays so we can improve the website. Each measurement contains only an event category and a predefined page category; our hosting provider timestamps the event. We do not include names, email addresses, account identifiers, message content, full page URLs, query strings or referring URLs in these measurements. We do not use analytics cookies, persistent visitor identifiers, fingerprinting, cross-site tracking or advertising analytics, and we do not link these measurements to application accounts. The browser script does not send measurements when Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control is enabled. Cloudflare processes these events as our hosting provider and retains the event logs for no more than seven days. We may retain aggregate event totals without visitor identifiers for longer. Hosting providers also process technical request information, which can include IP addresses and browser information, to deliver, operate and secure the service; this information is not included in our analytics event payloads.

This website contains links to other sites. Please be aware that we are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of any other site that collects personally identifiable information.

VII. Security of Your Personal Information

The Company secures your personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. The Company uses the following methods for this purpose:

  • Transport Layer Security (TLS) encrypts connections between your browser and the PigeonProbe website and application.

We strive to take appropriate security measures to protect against unauthorized access to or alteration of your personal information. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet or any wireless network can be guaranteed to be 100 percent secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your personal information, you acknowledge that: (a) there are security and privacy limitations inherent to the Internet that are beyond our control; and (b) the security, integrity, and privacy of any and all information and data exchanged between you and us through this site cannot be guaranteed.

VIII. Right to Deletion

Subject to certain exceptions set out below, on receipt of a verifiable request from you, we will:

  • Delete your personal information from our records; and
  • Direct any service providers to delete your personal information from their records.

Please note that we may not be able to comply with requests to delete your personal information if it is necessary to:

  • Complete the transaction for which the personal information was collected, fulfill the terms of a written warranty or product recall conducted in accordance with federal law, and provide a good or service requested by you, or reasonably anticipated within the context of our ongoing business relationship with you, or otherwise perform a contract between you and us;
  • Detect security incidents, protect against malicious, deceptive, fraudulent, or illegal activity; or prosecute those responsible for that activity;
  • Debug to identify and repair errors that impair existing intended functionality;
  • Exercise free speech, ensure the right of another consumer to exercise his or her right of free speech, or exercise another right provided for by law;
  • Comply with the California Electronic Communications Privacy Act;
  • Engage in public or peer-reviewed scientific, historical, or statistical research in the public interest that adheres to all other applicable ethics and privacy laws, when our deletion of the information is likely to render impossible or seriously impair the achievement of such research, provided we have obtained your informed consent;
  • Enable solely internal uses that are reasonably aligned with your expectations based on your relationship with us;
  • Comply with an existing legal obligation; or
  • Otherwise, use your personal information internally in a lawful manner that is compatible with the context in which you provided the information.

IX. Data Security and Breach Notification

The Company maintains reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information from unauthorized access, acquisition, disclosure, or use. In the event of a security incident involving personal information, the Company will promptly investigate the incident and provide notice to affected individuals and, where required, to applicable regulatory authorities in accordance with applicable law.

The Company will provide any required notice in the manner and within the timeframes prescribed by applicable law.

X. Children Under 13

The Company does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of thirteen. If you are under the age of 13, you must ask your parent or guardian for permission to use this platform.

XI. Email Communications

The Company emails you about your account and the service, including address verification, account recovery, support responses, service notices, and notices required by law or this Policy. It does not send marketing or promotional email.

The Company sends no marketing or promotional email, so there is nothing to unsubscribe from. If that ever changes, this Policy will be updated first and every such email will carry an unsubscribe link.

XII. External Data Storage Sites

We may store your data on servers provided by third-party hosting vendors with whom we have contracted.

XIII. Changes to This Statement

The Company reserves the right to change this Policy from time to time. For example, when there are changes in our services, changes in our data protection practices, or changes in the law. When changes to this Policy are significant, we will inform you. We may notify you by sending an email to the primary email address specified in your account, by placing a prominent notice on our website, and/or by updating any privacy information. Your continued use of the website and/or services available after such modifications will constitute your: (a) acknowledgment of the modification of this Policy; and (b) agreement to abide and be bound by this modified Policy.
